Former Star-Ledger Reporter
Joins NCC as Communications Director
Angela Stewart, a former reporter for The Star-Ledger whose career
at the paper spanned 25 years, has joined the staff of New Community
Corporation as director of communications.
In her new role, Stewart is responsible for handling media relations,
as well as the editing and writing of the Clarion newsletter. She
officially began her duties on February 2.
“I am happy to be a part of the New Community family and look forward
to showcasing the many programs that help improve the lives of city
residents,” she said.
Stewart joined the Star-Ledger in 1983, covering general assignment
news for more than a decade. It was during this period that she became
familiar with New Community Corporation and its many programs. Her
stories included the completed renovation of St. Joseph Plaza in
1985 and the opening of a new health care complex in 2004.
Most recently, she had been covering the healthcare beat for The
Star-Ledger. Her long tenure at the paper ended in December of 2008.
Monsignor William J. Linder, founder of New Community Corporation, warmly
welcomed her aboard. “It’s good to have a person with Angela’s
professional background, experience and such a pleasant disposition
join our team. She will enhance our communication efforts here at
NCC,” he said.
